For each wasteful activity, I supply three measures (solely based on my experience and observation) in relation to the below:
Epidemic: This gauge measures how widespread the wasteful practice is. A high value on the epidemic gauge means that the waste referred to is common in the wild. A low value means that it is present only in some specific niche.
Damaging: This gauge measures the economic impact of the specific wasteful practice. A high number here means that your company is wasting a large amount of money.
Resistant: This gauge measures the level of difficulty in removing the wasteful practice. A high value here might mean that no clear solution is available or that the implementation of the solution can be costly and difficult. A low value indicates something that can be fixed straight away with little pain and effort.
The combination of the 3 measures is The Waste Index
